Captain John Jenkins of the Glengarry Light Infantry

Description

At the outbreak of War of 1812, the British Government raised a regiment of Light Infantry Fencibles in Upper Canada. Consisting of mainly Scottish immigrants the regiment was originally to be dressed as a Highland regiments, however due to an over abundance of 95th Rifles uniforms, the regiment was changed to light infantry and dressed in the 95th uniforms. They were not issued Baker Rifles, instead the regiment received Brown Bess muskets. The Glengarry’s took part in most major engagements along the frontier and distinguished themselves greatly.
